Caussade, hats city

Caussade

Description

Between stones and bricks at the gates of Quercy… Caussade appears, according to the texts, in the 10th century. Today, the town is known worldwide for its hat factories, the Estivales du Chapeau, its fat and truffle market and its pleasant Parc de la Lère (Caussade-Monteils).

Strolling through the historic centre, you will discover the rich built heritage of Caussade, a former Protestant stronghold marked by the Wars of Religion.

Discover the Tour d’Arles, the Fontaine du Thouron, the Maison de la Taverne, the Maison de l’Arbot, the church, the market hall…and don’t forget to make a detour to the Tourist Office, which is located in a former cloister in the Récollets.

Every Monday, the Caussade market attracts a large crowd, a reservoir of good regional cuisine with all the vegetables and fruit of Quercy, truffes and safran in winter and of course, its famous wines from the Coteaux du Quercy and its truffles.

For a short stroll, head for the Parc de la Lère, a place where you can relax, discover the fauna and flora and practice sports and leisure activities.
