The Arles Tower

Caussade

Description

The Arles Tower stands opposite the church of Notre Dame de l’Assomption.

Built in the 13th century, it was notably the property of the Duke of Sully. A precious witness to the architecture of the Middle Ages in Quercy, this tower, whose two facades have twin bays, houses vestiges of medieval wall painting.

This red brick tower called Tour d’Arles was built during the expansion of the medieval town (probably built by the Lalo, a wealthy merchant family).

The building, which belongs to the Caussade town hall, has been classified as a Historic Monument since 1989.
