Hat Block Maker – Hats Blocks Laforest

The profession of hat block maker is rare and classified by Unesco. A hat block maker is the person who sculpts blocks of lime (or linden) wood that serve as molds for making all types of hats. Borsalino, capeline, beret, fascinator, bowler hats and even cowboy hats come to life on these shapes. The workshop is located in the historic center of Caussade in a unique house dating back to the 13th century that is full of stories… There is also a shop and a showroom.

Discover the Willy’s Paris hat store!

The Willy’s Paris hat store was founded in 1824 in Caussade. Discover a know-how that has lasted six generations. These hats are made using a time-honored and rare material; what’s more, the company carries on the traditional manufacturing processes and the workshop, which still belongs to the same family, has obtained the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant label. A factory store is at your disposal.

La Mounière Heritage Remembrance Museum

La Mounière Heritage Remembrance Museum is a display of the history of Quercy Caussadais through three village stories: The Septfonds (or Judes) Camp and the population displacements during the Second World War / The hat-maker’s trade and the story of straw / The aviator Dieudonné Costes, born in Septfonds. La Mounière reveals these stories in the form of texts, multimedia, video testimonials and remembrance walks through the village.

Crambes Hat Workshop

This hat workshop was created in 1946 by Auguste Crambes in Caussade. It has 60 employees. It covers over 80,000 sq.ft. in which about 1,000 hats and caps are produced every day, sold mostly under the registered trademarks of Ets CRAMBES. Its know-how and equipment allow it to work with various types of material.

Medieval village of Montpezat-de-Quercy

The Collegiate Church of Saint-Martin and its Flemish tapestries

The Collegiate Church of Saint-Martin, built in the middle of the 14th century, is a beautiful example of southern Gothic architecture. Inside, you will discover a Tarn et Garonne gem, a collection of tapestries, 5 magnificent wall hangings telling the story of Saint-Martin in the superb setting of the choir recently renovated to accommodate this unique piece of history dating back nearly 500 years.

Visit Domaine de Lafage... and taste!

Bernard Bouyssou and his team will welcome you all year round. Domaine de Lafage is located in the region of the Coteaux du Quercy appellation in Montpezat. The 30 acres of vines are cultivated using Biodynamic techniques. The estate makes mainly red wines, but also rosé. Your tour will end with a friendly tasting!
