The Quercy vineyards

In the heart of Quercy, there is a small, tucked-away but accessible wine-growing area where you can enjoy a simple and authentic experience among winegrowers passionate about their work. These professionals aspire to quality and respect the local environment and land. A family spirit with a strong local history.

The Quercy wine-growing area, vineyards on a human scale

The Quercy vineyards offers the promise of a unique experience. It is a wooded region where you will want to take time to contemplate the natural landscapes, to discover a rich history and to listen to stories told by locals with lilting accents.

Here, flavors are also on the menu, an invitation to discovery, a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds.

The grapes grow in chalky clay soil bathed in sunlight, under the effects of which they become round and fully flavored, producing colorful and very fruity wines. Fleshy on the palate and with a supple attack, Coteaux du Quercy wines reveal pleasant aromas of raspberry, blackberry and blackcurrant, underscored by subtle floral and peppery notes.

Coteaux du Quercy red wines are rich in “good tannins,” which become rounder with age.

PDO wines since 2011

What is a PDO wine ? The “Protected Designation of Origin” (PDO) or “appellation d’origine contrôlée” (controlled designation of origin) (AOC) label is a European label guaranteeing the origin and quality of a product from a region possessing traditional know-how.

For a wine to benefit from this quality label, it must be prepared according to precise specifications, from the choice of grape varieties through to the vinification and cultivation methods used and the taste and flavor of the wine once bottled. A PDO wine must comply with these production conditions.

The Vignobles & Découvertes label

In May 2019, the Quercy vineyards obtained the Vignobles & Découvertes label.

This is a form of recognition awarded by Atout France (France’s tourism development agency) that rewards tourist and wine destinations offering multiple and complementary tourist products (accommodation, dining, cellar visits and tasting, museum, events, etc.), allowing visitors to easily organize their stay and find professional services.

Vignobles & Découvertes is the only national label that ensures customers are able to discover all a wine-growing area has to offer and receive a quality welcome.
