Puylaroque

On the borders of the Lot stands an old bastide: Puylaroque.
Welcome to the very summits of Quercy Caussadais!

Visit

Need to see things from another perspective?

Centuries of omnipresence, and the certainty that the future will always pass at the foot of its old walls… Standing proudly at an altitude of more than 650 feet, the Bastide de Puylaroque offers a stunning panorama of the valleys and hillside lakes of Quercy Caussadais.

Head for the Place de la Citadelle or the Place du Château to admire the magnificent paintings…

Located on the edge of a limestone spur, Pella Roca (Puylaroque in Occitan) today bears witness to its past and its medieval history. Stroll through its narrow streets, where you will find old corbeled and half-timbered houses, facade sculptures, and more.

Church of Saint-Jacques

The Church of Saint-Jacques was built in the 12th century on the foundations of a former chapel following a fire perpetrated at the time of the Albigensian Crusade (during the Wars of Religion).
Inside the church you can see some tombs in the floor, where traces of the rings used to lift the slabs are still visible!

Head for the vantage point accessible from the church square to enjoy the view.

The Church of Saint-Jacques in the center of Puylaroque is listed in the inventory of Historical Monuments of France.

Hikes for all

Enjoy the surprises in the countryside around Puylaroque, full of life, with friends, family or as a couple. There are hikes in the hills on paths along the Lère or the Cande, and there are two hiking trails marked out that you can take in the immediate vicinity of Puylaroque.

Ideal for walks, landscapes, fishing or even a barbecue, Lac Fourquet, found at the bottom of the hill (road to Caylus), offers a superb view over the village!
