At the beginning of the 20th century, Caussade employed more than 3,000 workers in trades relating to the manufacture of hats. There are still two hat workshops in Caussade.

Although the hat-making business is now not as big, the tradition continues, with the hat block maker’s workshop, the “L’Epopée Chapelière” living history museum, the two hat workshops and the Summer Hat Festival held every year in July.
